Punch Line of the Day: Times of India, the world’s most widely circulated English-language newspaper, published this terribly tasteless joke involving singer Chris Brown and his 2009 physical assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna in today’s Delhi edition.
“Is this ‘joke’ in Delhi Times really about beating women, in country where 1/3 will experience physical violence?” asks Anna Barry-Jester, the Delhi-based photographer who spotted the bit. “It is just a joke,” Forbes India reporter Ashish Mishra said in response to criticism.
What say you? Just a joke?

For a newspaper that reported so extensively on the Jay Leno joke about the Golden Temple and Mitt Romney (which, btw, I personally feel a libel lawsuit was overreactionary), they sure find some NON-FUNNY things hilarious. “Let’s make a joke about abuse! Lols!”
Ugh.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but America(ns) make these exact jokes, about domestic violence and domestic violence specific to Chris Brown, but we never hear jack squat about it, so why is it so outrageous when another country does it? I’m not approving, I just don’t know why we’re so focused on this when we do the same thing and we have a high statistic of violence against women too (1 in 4 women)
